BIO

Rozi Peters is an independent artist and filmmaker based in London, U.K. Her work is heavily informed by movement and rhythm, often working with aspects of dance or with dancers. Many of her films have been screened at dance film festivals. Sound is also a predominant factor in her films, which locate themselves around non-dialogue driven, loose narrative and heavily worked sound design. She has worked as a sound recordist on a number of productions and generally records her own sound for her film.

Rozi began work in the film industry in the art department on Films, TV and commercials. She spent a year as an adjunct instructor, at the State University of New York (SUNY), Buffalo, USA teaching undergraduate video production classes titled “Dance for the Camera” and "Video Production Design". These classes drew on both her experience as an independent filmmaker, her industry experience as a Production Designer, Art Director and Assistant Director and her practice as an artist using video. She worked with Creative Partnerships for 5 years as an artist and project manager delivering arts projects in schools and has continued to work with film and video in educational and ethnographic contexts. Projects include:

In Transit, a Project Artworks Paul Hamlyn Commission to make three film portraits of young adults with learning difficulties who are at a moment of transition in their lives. Rozi also works as a video editor using FCPX on commercial, social action and education projects.

Her film works have screened nationally and internationally at art cinemas, galleries and festivals including the NFT, London, the ICA, London, The Dance on Screen Festival, London, Feminale festival, Cologne, Germany, Birds eye view festival London, Ormeau Baths Gallery in Belfast and Hallwalls contemporary art centre, Buffalo, NY, USA. Her work has been distributed by The British Council and funding bodies include the UK Film Council and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
